About the Level 1 Community Qigong Practice Leader Training

View Certification Overview

Get excited about a new profession or an added professional skill for your place in the wellness revolution! Qigong and Tai Chi are among the most eloquent and effective forms of Mind-Body Practice ever developed. Oprah and Dr. Mehmet Oz talk about it. The research is pouring in. Time Magazine wrote, “Tai Chi is the perfect exercise.” Wall Street Journal reported, “It is apparent that many championship athletes are secretly practicing Qigong.” Harvard Medical School calls Tai Chi "moving medication." Already Qigong and Tai Chi are used in programs in schools, universities, social service agencies, military bases, hospitals, fitness centers, YMCAs, prisons, faith ministries and spas all around the world. Imagine being a part of that!

As an Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Teacher trainee, you will launch your professional training in Mind-Body practice with in-depth exploration of Qigong and Tai Chi. Our goal is to present these ancient Qi cultivation arts accessibly and in thorough alignment with holistic principles, contemporary science and the practices and philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Graduates of the Level 1 Community Qigong Practice Leader training are encouraged to begin teaching right away after Level 1.

To penetrate into the heart of Qigong and Tai Chi in the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Level 1 training, we begin your journey with:

  • The acclaimed Healer Within practices, distilled from the Vitality Medical Qigong Method (Bu Zheng Qigong), an approach to Qigong carefully tailored for the mainstream, from Dr. Jahnke's book The Healer Within.
  • Ten Phases of Cultivation and Mastery from Dr. Jahnke's The Healing Promise of Qi, a classic in the emerging literature of Chinese medicine, Mind-Body practice and Complementary Medicine. Practices from the 9 Phase Integral Qigong™ Form are integrated from an array of traditional ancient forms.
  • Ancient traditional practices of Tendon Changing and Marrow Bathing
  • Contemporary practices of Spontaneous Qigong and Seven Precious Gestures
  • Preliminary survey of Nei Dan (inner alchemy).

Throughout the 200-hour certification training, we will explore simple forms of Qigong, Tai Chi (Tai Chi Easy™), Transmitting Qi (Wai Gong) and Qigong Healing as well. Along with the Teacher Training Curriculum, the tone of these trainings is one of reverence, joy, introspection and community. We will create a deep experience with moving and sitting meditations, mindfulness, spiritual enrichment and we will refresh your well-being with daily Qi cultivation. Bring your journal, your favorite inspirational texts and a sense of openness. You will gain practical experience in leading Qigong community practice in a group setting that is non-competitive and a lot of fun.

Available Payment Plan Options Through August 31, 2011

We recognize the flexibility that is sometimes needed in meeting the registration cost for certain events. To support this, we have made available a 3-Month Pay Plan and a 6-Month Pay Plan for a nominal finance and administration fee. To take advantage of one of the available payment plan options, simply register as usual. Upon choosing your preferred Lodging type, you will be taken to the Shopping Cart where you will see the payment plan options. Simply choose the one that works best for you and sign up!

Note: The total of all your payments will equal the registration cost plus the applicable finance fee ($75.00 for 3-month plans, $180.00 for 6-month plans.) This sum is evenly dispersed over 3 or 6 monthly payments. Once you enter your credit card information and submit your order, your first payment will be charged immediately. Each subsequent payment will be automatically charged to your credit card in 30-day increments for the duration of your selected plan.

  • Due to required facility deposits, for cancellations made between July 31, 2011 through August 31, 2011, the refund is the registration fee less a $350.00 processing fee, (and less the portion of the finance fee collected to date of cancellation for Payment Plan Enrollees).

Shuttle Information and Registration

CYJ is approximately a 50-minute drive from the nearest airport, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. For your travel convenience, the IIQTC has arranged for a one-time shuttle to run from the Austin airport to CYJ on September 29 and again one time from CYJ to Austin airport on October 6. While there is a fee to reserve your seat, the fee is less than paying for a taxi ride. Note that a taxi would cost approximately $104.00 (before tip), one way only. You may choose to register for a Round-Trip shuttle fare ($155.00), or a One-Way shuttle fare ($85.00), depending on your needs.

In order to take advantage of this Shuttle service, you must make your flight arrangements according to the below scheduling parameters:

September 29, 2011: Flight must arrive in Austin no later than 2:30 pm
October 6, 2011:  Flight must depart Austin 3:00 pm or later

These times are critical for your on-time arrival at the retreat center on September 29, as well as to safeguard against missing your outbound flight following course completion on October 6. While we have found that this timeframe can accommodate many people, we realize it may not be able to accommodate everyone. Because important itinerary details are needed to complete your reservation, please do not register for the Shuttle until you have made your flight arrangements accordingly.

Important Note: Please plan your travel carefully around the time parameters noted. Our reservation with the shuttle service is guaranteed and non-refundable, so we are unable to refund due to missed flights or late arrivals.

Make Shuttle ReservationOnce you have made your flight arrangements (according to the guidelines noted above), please click here to register for the Shuttle Service. You will first be asked for your itinerary information; once you "submit" these details you will be taken to a page where you can pay for your reservation.

If you are unable to take advantage of this Shuttle, please do make your travel arrangements so you can arrive at CYJ around 4:00 pm on September 29. You are encouraged to unpack, unwind, and join the group for dinner prior to the first evening's training session.
