Jianye Jiang
Shifu Jianye Jiang has studied Wushu from the age of 5, learning from well-known masters such as Yu Mingwei, Yu Hai and many others. He received B.A. and Master's degrees from Qufu University and Shanghai Physical Education Institute. A national and international judge in China and the U.S., he is also a master calligrapher and winner of national and international awards. Sales of his calligraphy have garnered more than $10,000, all donated to the Shandong Disabled Association. He has also acted in movies produced in China, Australia, and Japan. Livia Kohn, Ph.D.
Livia Kohn is Professor of Religion at Boston University with a Ph.D., University of Bonn, Germany; Dr. habil., University of Goettingen, Germany. Research associate of Fairbank Center, Harvard University; Center for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University; NCC Center for the Study of Japanese Religions, Kyoto. Matthew Sweigart
Matthew Sweigart, CI, is Certified Instructor of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA). Matthew is the Director of Education for the Board of AOBTA and is the director and primary instructor of the HeartMind Shiatsu 300 hour training program which he developed. He teaches all levels of HeartMind Shiatsu Theory and Practice and is the Clinic Supervisor for the program. In 1988 he founded Ohashiatsu Chicago, where he taught and practiced under the supervision of the Ohashi Institute for 18 years. Since moving to Northern California in 2000 he has been a guest Shiatsu faculty at various Massage and Bodywork Schools, where he began developing the HeartMind Shiatsu Curriculum. He maintains his connection to the school he founded in Chicago as Supervising Instructor and Visiting Faculty at Zen Shiatsu Chicago. Chi-hsiu Daniel Weng, Ph.D.
Dr. Chi-hsiu D. Weng is a two time national champion of Shuai-chiao in his weight class. Master Weng holds a First Teng (9th Degree Black Belt) in Shuai-chiao. He began his training with legendary Grandmaster Ch'ang Tung-sheng in 1968 when he was already a second degree black belt and collegiate champion in Judo. Dr. Weng assisted Grandmaster Ch'ang Tung-sheng in the 1970s at the Central Police College R.O.C in Tapei as an assistant instructor, and received his Bachelor's degree . When Weng entered graduate school he continued to assist Grandmaster Ch'ang Tung-sheng and ultimately helped establish the internationally accepted ranking system of Shuai-chiao in 1983. When Weng entered the military service, he was appointed to teach Shuai-chiao, T'ai-chi Ch'uan, Judo and and general physical education courses at the Military Police College. While there, he produced an accredited course videotape text of Shuai-chiao training and techniques, which was accepted as the standard for the Taiwan military.
In 1978, Weng came to the U.S. to accept a teaching associate post at Ohio State University, where he established coursework in Shuai-chiao and T'ai-chi Ch'uan in Ohio States Department of Physical Education. In 1984, Dr. Weng's published the two English textbooks: Fundamentals of Shuai-Chiao and Ch' ang Style T 'ai-chi Ch'uan, Modified Short Form and instructional videos of T'ai-chi Ch'uan and Shuai-chiao, some of the few instructional videos of Grandmaster in existence. In 1987, Dr. Weng received a Ph.D. in Physical Education from Ohio State University.
He is a former chairman of the Division of Chinese Martial Arts at the Chinese Culture University, Taiwan. His current notable positions include: President of Pan-American Shuai-Chiao Federation and Visiting Professor at San Jose State University from 1991 to present. He was also a member of the Arbitrator Committee for the Second World Wushu Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1993. In 1999, Dr. Weng founded the Tai-Chi Monkey and Cardio-Tai Chi Systems.
